Who is SDVTI?

Who is SDVTI? San Diego Vintage Trolley, Inc. (SDVTI), a non-profit 501(c)3 wholly-owned subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transit System. The mission of SDVTI is to acquire and restore “vintage,” otherwise known as “heritage” streetcars for operation by MTS within the MTS rail system. As the cars complete restoration and are ready for service, they will be transferred to SDTI which will assume operations and maintenance responsibility. MTS will include the cars as part of the transit system to be known as the “Silver Line”.

Once restoration work has been completed, SDVTI volunteers will continue their activities as a support group to MTS by providing technical support, acting as docents, and networking with other vintage organizations to obtain spares and other resources. They will also work with MTS marketing to actively promote vintage trolley ridership, and to seek new outreach opportunities to raise funds, and expand vintage trolley service to new areas.
